The Singapore Gaelic Lions Football Club take on The Singapore Wombats Australian Rules Football Club in a match to be played in honour of the memory of Bill Nikolopoulos.

Singapore Gaelic Football team will attempt what the Irish National team could not achieve – beat the wizards of Oz (or is that munch-kins) in a compromise game of Gaelic Football and Australian Rules Football.

Allegedly there are proper rules for this ferocious battle of lion against marsupial, but it’s unlikely many of the players on either side will have read them, let alone learnt what they mean.

The last time the two teams met in a friendly, they tied at 12 points each. Since then both teams have seen a number of squad changes, so the cup is in the balance.

For those that had the honour of knowing Bill, the cup game will be the most fitting way to remember him doing what he enjoyed and excelled at. He was a great man, loyal friend, committed sportsman and general light to the world and all those around him.
