The Gaelic Lions and Cumann Peil na mBan treated Singapore to the finest display of football skill ever. Ireland's Ladies Gaelic footballers "The 2004 & 2005 All Stars" stunned the crowd with their skill and commitment and their battle for glory to the bitter end. The Ladies tour were Guests of honour on Thursday evening at the St Patricks Day reception at the home of the Irish ambassador Mr Hugh Swift and his wife Maire.
The revelry moved on from there to party the night away with some of SGL's finest party goers and bar top dancers.
The ladies enthralled the kids at schools throughout Singapore on Friday and again on Monday, passing on their skills to the next generation of Singaopre Gaelic Lions. Kids Training
St Patrick arrived in style to make a personal appearance at the SGL/Allstar beach volleyball tournament on Sentosa.
But the real action was on Saturday the 18th of March 2006 at the Singapore Polo Club
Ireland's finest Gaelic football players showcased their talents in the tropical setting of the Polo Grounds in Singapore, which also hosted the All Star Hurling Tour in January. It was an incredible day. The blistering heat was shrugged off as no more than a bright summers day on the playing fields of Ireland.
The curtain raiser on the day was the local ladies of the Singapore Gaelic Lions supported by a few of the Irish and Australian all-stars of yester year giving us a fine display of 7 a-side football. The local game played yearly at the Asian Gaelic Games.
The final warm up act was the first leg of the Bill Nikolopoulos Cup between the Gaelic Lions and the Wombats Aussie Rules Team. This game lived up to and exceeded its promise. It was a tough physical game with the Wombats and the Lions giving it everything for the honour of the first round of the cup. See SGL vs Wombats 1 and 2 for photo's of the actions.
The match we had all been waiting for was a phenomenal display of skill, pace and commitment for every kick of the ball. The searing heat did not deter the ladies from giving everything they had to the game right to the final whistle.

Throughout the day all the other going's on are captured here. The kids displaying their skills, St Patricks band entrtaining the crowd, The Polo game, The group photo and more.
Sunday was the first ever St Patricks day parade in Singapore organised by the Patricians and the Irish Business Association. All the Irish turned out in style.
The weekend was rounded off with dinner and speaches at Indochine, followed by some more dancing on the bar and in the streets.
On behalf of the club thanks to the Ladies Allstars and all from Cuman Peil na Mban for the opportunity to show you Singapore, for a fantastic weekend, and a fabulous game of football.
Be sure to send me your photo's from the weekend and the hurlers weekend for inclusion here. Webmaster
